Next Generation Education STEM Garden”
A place for the aspiring young scientist.

Mission Statement

The “STEM Education Garden’s” mission is fourfold.

(1) Educational – To encourage Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math learning, by augmenting STEM initiatives in local school districts, charter schools, and civic groups such as the Boy Scouts of America.

(2) Resources – To improve the lives of students and homeschool families by providing trustworthy STEM information. This includes access to STEM lesson plans, curriculum, and access to STEM equipment and apparatus.

(3) Social – The “Next Generation Education STEM Garden” is an innovative program that bridges the generation gap between Senior citizens and the youth. This “Inter-Generational” model provides valuable social contact with qualified senior citizen teachers and students as they work together in STEM learning environments.

(4) Charitable – To provide STEM educational programs for at-risk youth by providing STEM classes, activities, and programs to non-profit organizations such as the Salvation Army.

Project Goal

The Stem Garden will develop a STEM program dedicated to teaching students in a positive, engaging, and hands-on learning environment.

Summary Statement

This program is intended for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The STEM Education Garden has created an educational alliance with the Waxahachie Independent School District and other members of the community educational collaboration; including organizations such as the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, the Texas Master Naturalist, and The Audubon Society. Collaborating with these educators, our classes will range from Life, Earth, and Environmental Sciences.

Generational teaching with senior citizens fosters a deep appreciation for the natural world while equipping students with STEM knowledge and real-life skills they need to excel in their education and future careers.
