Waxahachie High School students and community members are invited to help launch and build the school’s new rain garden.

Date: October 3, 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m. to noon.

Location: (The event will take place on the east side of the main building, in front of the student parking lot.)

Participants will help create an inclusive outdoor classroom designed to manage storm water while providing a protected habitat for native Texas plants and wildlife.

The event brings together community, conservation, and education through the combined efforts of Waxahachie High School, the STEM Education Garden, Texas Woman’s University Environmental Science, and the Tarrant Regional Water District.

The Waxahachie High School Rain Garden is a collaborative outdoor-learning project developed with the STEM Education Garden, Texas Woman’s University, and support from the Tarrant Regional Water District’s watershed-protection efforts.

Designed for Life Skills students and the general student population, the garden will provide hands-on lessons in environmental science, native plants, water conservation, and storm water management.

This living classroom is expected to benefit students, the school district, and the wider community while encouraging environmental responsibility and inclusive learning.
